17JUN22- Basically Gonna put Pichincha …and cotopaxi y imbabura provinces, in state of exception and curfews, same as esmeradas, manabi y guayas, and much more concessions: Important news (including the announcement of a curfew) for people in the provinces of Pichincha, Cotopaxi and Imbabura:

Lasso decrees a state of emergency in Pichincha, Cotopaxi and Imbabura due to a national strike
The President of the Republic, Guillermo Lasso, announced new actions that the National Government will take regarding the national strike called by the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (Conaie). This was done through the national chain on the night of this Friday, June 17.

One of the actions that he decided to apply is the state of exception in the provinces of Pichincha, Cotopaxi and Imbabura as of midnight on June 17, 2022.

Additionally, "to alleviate the difficult situation of many families" he pointed out that:
🔸The human development bonus will be increased to USD 55.
🔸An emergency is declared in the public health system.
🔸The budget for intercultural education will be doubled
🔸50% of the price of urea (fertilizer) will be subsidized for small and medium producers.
🔸An agricultural loan of up to USD 5,000 at 1% and a 30-year term will be provided.
🔸There will be no increase in diesel, gas and extra gasoline and ecocountry.
🔸There will be no privatization of public services
🔸Banecuador will forgive all overdue credits up to USD 3,000

The state of exception will last 30 days.
The Executive Decree determines that the right to freedom of association and assembly is suspended in the aforementioned provinces; which limits the formation of crowds in public spaces 24 hours a day.
Additionally, freedom of movement is restricted, so a curfew is decreed in the Metropolitan District of Quito (DMQ) from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

The following sectors are excepted from the curfew restriction:
🔸Health services of the comprehensive public health network and the complementary private network.
🔸Public security, complementary private security and risk management and emergency services.
🔸Road emergency services.

🔸Public servants of the Ministry of Government and the Ministry of the Interior.
🔸Public servants or personnel of contractors of public entities that certify that they must travel to ensure the continuity of public services.
🔸Workers in the logistics chain of the export sector, who must demonstrate that they work in a company within said sector and, if applicable, the legality of the cargo they transport.

🔸People who must travel to and from airports for scheduled flights within curfew hours.
🔸Lawyers, as long as they prove the need to attend a judicial proceeding, officials of the Constitutional Court and public servants of the Judicial Function.
🔸Social media workers.

🔸Workers in strategic sectors defined as such in the Constitution.
The President ended his speech by inviting dialogue. "United, sitting at a table, we will find solutions that alleviate the situation of Ecuadorian families."
What does the Conaie say?

On the night of Thursday, June 16, the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (Conaie) gave the Government an ultimatum to give answers to the list of demands demanded by the indigenous movement.
According to the indigenous leader, the Conaie rejected the dialogue until the results of the 10 petitions to the Government are made public.

Around 9:15 p.m. this Friday, June 17, Conaie issued a statement calling on its members not to allow vandalism, violence and identify infiltrators who want to generate chaos. "The protest must be carried out with a clear agenda, dignity and collective conscience," the statement said."

01JUL25 - SOUTHCOM’s TMPI: Towards Integrated Deterrence in the Americas by Building Maintenance Capacity- #ECUADOR - "Analyzing Ecuador’s foreign policy trajectory over the past two decades is pertinent to illuminating the region’s evolving political and security landscape. During President Rafael Correa’s administration between 2007 and 2017, Ecuador pivoted by severing its military relations with the US.

This comprehensive shift included ordering the closure of the security cooperation office in the US Embassy and honoring but not renewing the lease term for the Manta Air Base, causing the withdrawal of approximately 300 US military personnel stationed there.

However, this period of strained relations was followed by the re-establishment of the Office of Security Cooperation (OSC) in 2018, signaling a potential shift that ultimately materialized with new military cooperation agreements signed with the US in 2023 under President Lasso and ratified in 2024 by President Daniel Noboa. ...

25JUN25 "Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa announced this Thursday the capture of Adolfo Macías Villamar, alias "Fito ," considered the leader of the Los Choneros organized crime group.

"For those who opposed and doubted the need for the Solidarity and Intelligence laws : thanks to those laws, Fito was captured today and is in the hands of the Security Bloc," the president posted on the social network X.

"We have done our part to proceed with Fito's extradition to the United States , and we await your response. Have a good afternoon, Ecuador," Noboa added.

The criminal leader had been on the run for over a year and a half , after escaping from the Guayaquil Regional Prison and hiding his tracks while the country was engulfed in a spiral of violence, culminating in the brief takeover of a television station.

'Fito,' who was serving a 34-year sentence for organized crime, drug trafficking, and murder , escaped on January 7, 2024, as he was about to be transferred to La Roca, a ...
