20OCT2022 #Ecuador - "A delegation of United States senators promised today to deepen US cooperation with Ecuador in security matters and generate the legal framework to increase trade between the two countries.
After beginning their visit to Ecuador with a meeting of nearly two hours with President Lasso, the senators indicated that upon their return to the United States they will attend to the Ecuadorian president's request to increase aid to combat drug trafficking and transnational organized crime.
The delegation is headed by Republican Robert Menéndez, chairman of the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, and is completed by Democrats Ben Cardin and Ben Sasse; as well as fellow Republicans Rob Portman and Richard Burr. Speaking to journalists,
Menéndez said that he hopes that in November a bill between the United States and Ecuador will go ahead, which awaits a final vote in the US Senate and which aims to strengthen the bilateral relationship.
Said law intends to strengthen economic and commercial ties between the two countries, the promotion of the so-called "inclusive economic development,"
