24OCT23- #ECUADOR "Diana Durango se adjudicó la medalla de plata en 25 metros pistola, en los Juegos Panamericanos de Santiago, y selló su pase a los Juegos Olímpicos de París 2024. La atleta tricolor estuvo muy cerca del oro, pero sobre el final fue superada por la mexicana Alejandra Zavala. En la final de 25 metros pistola también compitió la ecuatoriana Marina Pérez, aunque finalizó séptima.
Durango, quiteña de 35 años, se convierte en la novena deportista ecuatoriana que clasifica a París 2024. Serán sus segundos Juegos Olímpicos consecutivos. "Estoy muy feliz de representar de una manera bonita a mi país. Esta medalla y la clasificación era algo que lo venía buscando", expresó Durango tras la competencia.
Además, dijo que vivió con mucho nerviosismo, pero a la vez emoción la final y, cuando supo que aseguró su cupo olímpico, se le pasaron "muchas cosas por la cabeza". Entre sus mayores logros también están la medalla de plata en los Panamericanos de Lima 2019.
