To the Police and the Armed Forces, continue with the operational and tactical deployment required to neutralize armed attacks, threats or risks orchestrated by organized crime, organized armed groups or terrorists.
The coordination necessary to establish multi-year budget programming regarding internal security, strategic intelligence and counterintelligence systems, among others.
In addition, the president declared detention centers as security zones.
According to the Executive, these decisions will allow the Government, with the support of law enforcement, to continue deploying priority actions to protect citizen security and well-being.
On January 8, President Noboa, who had barely been in power for less than two months, decreed a state of emergency for sixty days, which was then renewed for another month. This measure was taken in response to a series of attacks and violent actions perpetrated by criminal gangs, which reached their peak the following day with the assault by a group of hooded armed men on the TC Televisión channel during a live broadcast.
On that same day, Noboa declared the beginning of an "internal armed conflict" against 22 criminal gangs, which he called "terrorists."
