"The first person arrested for exceeding the speed limit in Quito is a foreigner. The infraction was carried out on Cóndor Ñan Avenue in the sector of the Government Platform of the south of Quito, this Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
The control started at 08:00 and lasted an hour. In this period, seven people were sanctioned with economic fines and detention for exceeding 50 kilometers per hour (km/h) in the urban perimeter.
Six of the seven offenders exceeded the moderate rank so they received an economic penalty of 138 dollars, equivalent to 30% of a Unified Basic Salary (SBU), according to article 389 - 6 of the Integral Organic Criminal Code (COIP)."
