especially those found in the yards or on the roofs of homes and on the street. If you have a pet outside and smoke is detected nearby, we recommend bringing them inside, closing doors and windows, giving them fresh water, brushing them to remove ash particles, and avoiding walks or hikes until the emergency is over.
In these cases, veterinarian Nicolás Ortiz recommends preparing a space inside a home with accessories, food and drinks that the pet needs to stay hydrated. An air purifier can also be considered to improve air quality. Pets should never be left tied up or exposed to the toxic material outdoors.
As with humans, smoke inhalation can be fatal or cause irreversible damage to the health of dogs and cats. Moderate exposure to the material also causes eye or respiratory problems, such as anthracosis.
