This Sunday, October 20, 2024, the crisis worsened at the Paute hydroelectric complex in Azuay.
The level of the Mazar reservoir, which on Saturday, October 19, was 2,116 meters above sea level (masl), fell one meter this Sunday, reaching its minimum operating level of 2,115 meters.
If it continues to decrease, it runs the risk of losing control of the reservoir and not being able to generate 170 megawatts of its capacity.
This scenario directly affects the rest of the Paute complex, which includes the Molino and Sopladora plants...." -
