This battle, which was fought at Portete de Tarqui, in the province of Azuay, in Ecuador, was one of the most decisive battles in the history of Gran Colombia and Ecuador.
The battle occurred between Ecuadorian and Peruvian forces, it is a key event in the history of the country. This confrontation was part of the territorial conflicts that arose after the independence of Gran Colombia, when Ecuador sought to consolidate its sovereignty.
On February 27, 1829, the troops of Gran Colombia, commanded by Antonio José de Sucre and Juan José Flores, defeated the Peruvian forces, forcing them to retreat and accept the conditions imposed in the Treaty of Girón.
A year later, on May 13, 1830, Ecuador ceased to be part of Gran Colombia and was born as an independent republic.
Then, on February 27, 1981, President Jaime Roldós determined by Executive Decree that every February 27 be commemorated as the Day of National Unity, as a call for patriotism and union among all Ecuadorians.
This date not only evokes the heroism of the fighters who defended the homeland, but also serves as a reminder of the importanceof citizen participation in the construction of a solid and committed democracy. This day also commemorates the Ecuadorian Army.

If as a lawyer you are found guilty of having bribed a judge or prosecutor or you are that judge or prosecutor bribed, it is impossible for us to think that it is coherent that we can once again entrust them with their participation in the system of administration of justice.
A corrupt judge, lawyer or prosecutor must be banned for life from practicing the profession. Let them go out to sweep streets or pass cafes, but in this profession they cannot participate again. Because without Justice there is no State and they have made sure that Ecuador is a failed State.
But I am more radical: I propose that the perpetual inability to practice the profession ...

The United States announced the elimination of reciprocal tariffs for certain Ecuadorian exports, following the conclusion of a new agreement promoted by President Donald Trump and President Daniel Noboa.
The understanding incorporates chapters of trade, work, environment and security, with the aim of providing greater competitiveness and relief to the export sector of Ecuador.
The Minister of Production and Foreign Trade, Luis Jaramillo, stressed that this framework "will lay the foundations of trade, economic and national security relations", emphasizing that the agreement marks a decisive step to deepen cooperation between the two countries.
According to the Ecuadorian Government, the measure will allow to expand opportunities for domestic products and strengthen the bilateral agenda in strategic areas for development and security." -
