19 JUN 2021- ✈American Airlines’ massive flight cancelations
What’s the cause of these flight cancelations?
Bottom line->
As noted by View from the Wing, American Airlines seems to be having a bit of an operational meltdown this weekend…
In this post:
American Airlines’ massive flight cancelations-
Looking at published data, American is approaching 400 flight cancelations over the course of a four day period around this weekend:
Yesterday (Friday) American canceled 83 flights
Today (Saturday) American canceled 111 flights
Tomorrow (Sunday) American canceled 146 flights
On Monday American canceled 51 flights
I would expect the number of cancelations to continue to grow significantly. If American has already canceled 146 flights for tomorrow and 51 flights for Monday, that number is likely to increase significantly...."
"....While I’m working on getting official confirmation, the most likely theory as of now seems to be that American is having pilot shortages impacting the 737 fleet. 👩✈️🧑✈👨✈️
Admittedly the pandemic has been extremely challenging for airlines logistically, and that particularly impacts pilot staffing. That’s because when airlines grounded their planes at the start of the pandemic, many pilots ended up being retrained on new aircraft type (based on seniority), and that’s a time consuming process that doesn’t happen overnight...." -

"For the record in these troubled times, the BA pilot deaths were in no way linked to any Coronavirus vaccines. There’s a lot of misinformation out there and this claim could indirectly result in someone dying because they were frightened away from receiving a vaccination." -
