Meanwhile, the General Secretary for Communication of the Presidency recalled that last August 16, Ecuador joined, together with more than 70 countries, a declaration coordinated by the United States,
in which the parties involved in the conflict are urged to respect and facilitate the safe departure of foreigners and native-born citizens from Afghanistan who wish to leave the country.
The statement adds that the permanence of Afghan citizens in Ecuadorian territory will be temporary and will have the cooperation of the United States to cover the expenses generated by their stay until they can be regularized in that country." -
